education-rotator-image

Its a no brainier that college students need extra money. Going to class, taking notes and studying for tests is what you are spending the big bucks on but there is more to the college experience than these things. It will take extra money and being a wise spender to enjoy the things out of the classroom. Below are some suggestions that will give some ideas on how to have the funds to enjoy the college life and still have time for your studies.

If you have not thought about using the internet to make some extra money, it is time to start. The internet can provide the extra Ka Ching you need. You may not get rich as a student on the internet but you can always have money in you pocket. Who knows it may lead to great income down the road. I personally know a man who graduated from one of the finest universities in the U.S. and got rich on the internet in a area not related to his degree. There is little money or lots of money to be made in cyberspace. It is up to you and you alone.

You will need to sell something or help others sell something. You can do it by creating a simple website or websites and selling you own products and help others sell their products to affiliates programs and advertising programs such as Google adsense. Don’t buy AdWords unless you have deep pockets and you probably don’t or you would not be reading this page. eBay is a great way to pickup some quick cash. Find something to buy very cheap and sell it a reasonable price for the customer.

Some things will bring in way more than you expect, especially if it is vintage tee shirt of some band or star. Check out the good wills, yard sales, etc. They are still out there and owner does not know what they have. They just want it out of their house. When you find something like this and you will if you seek diligently, SHOUT because you are fixing to make some money. These finds are little treasures. It is not hard to get setup on eBay if you are not already. I just play around with it and sell 12 to 16 thousand dollars per year. It is not all profit but it is all money and the money left over feels good in my pocket.

Keep your eyes peeled for junk, curbside, awaiting trash pickup. When Ma tells Pa to clean out his junk from her house that is money in your pocket. Pa doesn’t care, he just wants Ma happy and Ma is not happy with junk in her house.

Teacher Grant Program Now Accepting Applications

gettinganeducation

The Pet Care Trust’s Pets in the Classroom program is now accepting grant applications for the 2013-2014 school year. Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade teachers in both private and public schools who desire to introduce a pet into the classroom or already have a pet in the classroom are welcome to apply.

Many school teachers have very limited resources for the support of classroom animals, which is why the Pet Care Trust believes in supporting teachers with this educational grants program. Through the Pets in the Classroom program, teachers can obtain a grant for the purchase of new pets, pet environments or pet food and supplies for existing classroom pets. Teachers can apply for a direct, no-hassle grant through the Pets in the Classroom website (www.petsintheclassroom.org). The program offers 7 different types of grants, giving each teacher the opportunity to choose which grant is right for him or her. Grant options include:

Rebate Grant in the amounts of $100 (for small animal or birds) or $150 (for reptiles or fish) for purchases at any pet store;
Sustaining Grant in the amount of $50 to maintain an existing classroom pet;
Petco Grant, which provides coupons for the live animal, pet habitat and supplies purchased at Petco;
Petsmart Grant, which provides coupons for the live animal, pet habitat and supplies purchased at Petsmart; and
Pet Supermarket Grant, which provides coupons for live animal and pet supplies purchased at Pet Supermarket.

New for 2013-14:

Pet Supplies Plus Grant, which provides coupons for live animal and supplies purchased at Pet Supplies Plus Stores, and
Petland Discounts Grant, which provides coupons for live animal and supplies purchased at Petland Discounts Stores.

The grant program began in 2010 and has awarded 22,793 grants to teachers through the 2012-2013 school year. With a goal of introducing 5 million children in 100,000 classrooms to pets and the benefits they provide, the Trust hopes that the 2013-2014 school year will see a large number of grant applicants.

Steven T. King, Executive Director of the Pet Care Trust, commented, “The newly redesigned Pets in the Classroom website makes it easier than ever for teachers to apply for a grant and to find the resources they may need to select the right pet for their classroom.”

The Pets in the Classroom grant program benefits students by teaching them responsible, long-term pet care at an early age and providing the psychological and developmental benefits associated with the human-animal bond. Studies have shown that caring for pets has a positive effect on children, improving school attendance and teaching children responsibility, as well as encouraging nurturing and building self esteem.

Discover 7 Core Teaching Strategies To Become A Terrific Teacher

private-education

At times, teachers may feel inundated with theories, methodologies, teaching strategies, etc.etc.etc.

But please know that you can decide on how you want to run your classroom, and how you want to apply your teaching strategies.

One bit of information that I always pass on to my student teachers and teachers with little experience, is that it’s important to learn from more experienced teachers by watching them teach and reading as much as they can about any teaching strategies they have written. After that they will be in a much better position to pick and choose the teaching methods that suit them them the best.

Here are my top “7 Essential Core Teaching Strategies” that have held true for me throughout my 33 years of teaching from K-6.

1. Classroom Management is the teaching strategy that I consider to be most important in creating an effective teaching environment to ensure that your lessons will run smoothly and each teaching day will be a success.

There are many facets to ensuring effective classroom management including assertive classroom discipline, classroom behavior management, verbal and non-verbal communication strategies, classroom rules and classroom time management. Learning the details behind these essential classroom management strategies is the first step to success.

2. Know your students well. You should have different expectations for each one of your students. It is imperative to create a genuine bond with them (by the way that works both ways).

3. Continually Encourage and Motivate. Have your students set their own goals, helping them to attain them and then strive for new ones.

4. Build an effective teacher student relationship by displaying a caring and compassionate attitude towards your students. Show that you’re interested in them as people and they will return the favour (in most cases). Be sure to build up their self worth by maintaining a positive disposition.

5. Maintaining a communication dialogue with parents is very important. You are responsible for and accountable to your students so you must be professional, ready to meet and discuss any situation with parents. In some cases this will require a fair bit of tact and diplomacy on your part. On the other hand parents must respect you and your efforts as well.

6. Teachers need to show accountability primarily towards their students. But they are also accountable to parents, their school and themselves to provide their best effort every day throughout the year.

7. Teaching is “the best profession ever” if you have a real passion for it. Show your love for what you do, have FUN with your students and you will all benefit and learn from your experiences.

Digest these teaching strategies, play around with them, and implement those that fit your style of teaching. I truly hope that following these strategies will help you out and will make your life a little easier.

Try These Strategies and Have Fun!

Maori Education The Path to Our Future

logo-education

Figures recently released by the Ministry of Education show that there has been a steady growth in Maori tertiary enrolments. However, although there has been growth in enrolment figures, this growth has been attributed primarily to growth in attendance at Wananga and educational institutes that empower Maori to embrace not only the learning of their history and culture, but teach mainstream educational courses in a manner that appeals to the style and formality of the Maori culture itself.

However, the figures also indicate that Maori are less likely to enrol in tertiary education facilities during the core tertiary ages of 18 to 24. According to the University of Waikato, a number of factors have been identified as affecting the successful participation of Maori students in tertiary education. These include the transition and adaption to unfamiliar environments and learning procedures, inappropriate support systems, financial barriers and a lack of social and academic support. A number of studies have highlighted the high number of students who are first generation participants in tertiary education, for whom adjusting to the practices and rules of a new environment without the support of whanau (family) is difficult.

Nonetheless, the emerging signs and trends of increasing Maori participation in tertiary education institutes are encouraging. Further research into the role of Maori education has highlighted the need to tailor the learning style, experience and environment to suit the aspirations of the Maori culture and the value of the whanau.

According to a review of Maori education conducted by MAI in 2007, the further education of the individuals, both young and old, is essential for the continued development and future prosperity of Maori and the culture. With a better educated population base, the review proposes that Maori will be better able to determine their own futures and prosper, both economically and socially. Marginal educational records and enrolments affect the future prospects of the individual and the whanau. However, several initiatives are proving very successful in respect to enrolment and completion rate of Maori students. These include empowering Maori in the community to take on leading roles in education institutions, developing role models that young Maori aspire to replicate.

Leading tertiary providers in New Zealand have realised these facts and have created tertiary environments that not only cater for the general public, but provide specific learning styles, teachings and learning environments that are conducive to the continued promotion of Maori education. Those who are serious about Maori education have gone so far as to provide customary Maori buildings, such as the marae, which is not only the focus of the whanau, but learning and education. Plus some institutions provide a”Manaakitanga” programme designed to support students’ success in their studies.

Welding Course Coverage of Any University Curriculum for UG Program

education-logo

Welding is used for joining materials for constructing structures like rails, bridges, ships, pipelines, pressure vessels, missiles, space ships, gas cylinders and many more things. It is also used for repair and maintenance of worn out or broken / cracked components. It is a manufacturing process which finds applications in any industry. There are people working as Welding Engineers, Welding Supervisors and Welding Technicians – totaling about 800,000 in our country. It has a big role in the industrial development of any country. Today welding technology has advanced so much that welding engineers need to have knowledge of interdisciplinary courses like welding metallurgy, welding processes, joint design, heat transfer, fluid flow and the like. The welding course coverage of any university curriculum for UG Program in Mechanical Engineering /Metallurgical Engineering is normally very meager – about 20% of a full semester course on manufacturing processes. The students undergoing such courses do not develop much appreciation of the subject since the total time and slot available for the content under welding technology is rather very limited, it is suggested that every university should introduce an elective course on Welding Technology during the pre-final year or final year program. The students opting for such an elective course will be able to build a career in welding and related activities and will have a good job prospect.

Alternatively, an engineering institution can introduce an optional non- credit (but mandatory) Certificate course on Welding Technology. Incidentally, many universities encourage the students to study a few non- credit Certificate courses for value addition and furthering their career prospects.

Welding Technology become more advance quickly during the early 20th century. Welding is a fabrication process used to join materials, usually metals or thermoplastics, together. It is more in demand during the First and Second World War. It provides a great opportunity for those students who want to make a career in welding technology or welding engineering. It reduces unemployment from the world. There are number of welding institutes in India provides vocational courses and technical training in welding. After completion of courses Institutes provides a certificate. These certificates are helpful for learner to searching a job. Ador Welding Academy Pvt Ltd has developed curriculum modules that can be introduced in Polytechnic and Engineering Colleges at the pre-final year/ final year of the program. These curriculums also include actual practice sessions and working on a production-shop related welding project. The placement service of the academy also provides employment linked-services.

An excellent Financial Management for Students!

education-rotator

It may not be affecting you directly, but the recent economic turbulence (which is supposedly heading for disaster) is just an example of what you may be facing the day you graduate and enter the job market. And, as those affected by the current economic crisis may tell you, now is probably the time to look at how you spend your money and to be more critical on those decisions you make which could affect the course of the rest of your life. Take debt for example, something which seems fine initially because you have a job (hopefully) and therefore will be able to afford the monthly installments or go to www.positive-idea.com But did you consider the other things you might be spending on which will add to your monthly expenses? Probably not.

The following will serve as a basic blueprint of financial management for students those still at school and those at college or university. Create A Balance Sheet

Now is the best time to explore the basics of financial management. First and foremost is the use of a balance sheet detailing the various incomes and putting them in contrast with the various expenses. Which one is greater? Are you already in debt? Oddly enough, most people recoil in shock when they put things down on paper for the very simple reason that spending is more of a continuous thing that a once off payment. Would you pay $8, 000 for a car this minute? No, probably not. Would you pay a monthly installment of $100 for the same car right now? Its the same way with spending: a myriad of little things accumulating over a period of time which could put you in an awkward position. What You Need vs. What You Want

The bliss about being a student is that those things you need to spend money on are often less than those things you want to spend money on. But, when work starts and the responsibilities start mounting, these two soon switch around leaving many people unprepared for the sudden change or visit www.change-ur-mind.com Along with your balance sheet, make a list of things you really need like housing, food, travel expenses, medical expenses, etc. Budget

This is probably one of the last things you want to hear, but budgeting could set you on the road to riches faster than you think. This can be explained with the maxim: It takes money to make money. Saving now will give you that financial edge which could take years to reach before you are in a position to invest in those opportunities which capable of adding multiple digits to your bank balance.

As a final tip, and probably the most important one, educate yourself on the consequences of not having effective financial management strategies. Examples are abundant and will help you realize which mistakes not to make so that you may reach the top sooner.

How To Impress Your Teacher With Great 8th Grade Science Projects

gettinganeducation

Although nobody will expect entries for 8th grade science projects to be outstandingly proficient and altogether scientific, there are a number of ways in which you can make a good balanced project that will stand out and that will amaze the people who will see it. The main concern will be the validity of the information provided and the reliability of the sources used.

In many ways a project will have to tackle a subject that is either imposed by the teacher, or some topic that will be investigated by the student himself. In the latter case the student ought to pursue a certain subject that he feels drawn towards, something that he is interested in and also something that will be challenging. Many 8th grade science projects will be judged on the originality of their content, or rather, on the originality of the method in which they are presented.

Getting to know the subject at hand as well as possible is also very interesting and challenging. The teachers may be interested in finding how well prepared the student has actually been, and he may ask questions regarding the subject that were not included in the project itself. That’s why a little history and a little bit of focus on the entire area of the subject will be very important from the student. There’s no better way to impress a teacher than to know the information presented without hesitation.

Another aspect that needs to be prepared carefully will be a practical application or a specific set of visuals to go along with the project. If there is a possibility to include a video or a slide show, there will be further praise for the student. Also, a video may be just as good, and given the ease with which a laptop computer can be integrated, a multimedia display may prove very important as well.

Another way to make your project stand out is to think of it as a tale, as a story. There is tension and plot and suspense that can be used in your presentation. Start out by making an almost unbelievable statement that will arouse the attention of the crowd and then slowly bring out the facts. Keep your information clean and well presented, make pauses, and allow for the audience to focus and to think.

The best results are those that require the extra bit of attention and a bit more work. In the field of education there will be different levels of preparedness and the 8th grade science projects will be judged according to the standards of the age group, but still they should be well done and a good learning experience.
